(South Side)

No 8
No 9 (Mermaid Cottage)
TQ 9120 1/113 12.10.51.

2.
Probably one house originally, but since divided into 2. The building
has a Cl8 front but behind the facade it is older than this, as some timber
framing is visible in the west wall of No 9. 2 storeys and attic. 3 windows
in all. Stuccoed. Tiled roof. 2 dormers. No 8 has a small bay window
built out, similar to that at No 7, and the cornice of it is continued
over the doorway like a hood. No 9 also has a flat hood. 4-panel moulded
doors up steps to both houses.

All the listed buildings in Mermaid Street form a group.
