One of the Belvoir Angels headstones by a Hickling craftsman. Rectangular slate with raised inscription, topped withf stylistically carved angels. Inscription reeds:- Here Lyeth the Body of John Pickwell Who Died Nov. the 20th 1730 His Age 62 Year (in capitals). The same hand has engraved four lines -A husband kind a father dear/ The same-is he that lyeth here/ God gave him time for to repent/ And for his sins he did lament-. The folk-art angel images are to remind the departed soul to fly to heaven. (Photo Aug 2013).
