TQ 64 SW PEMBURY LOWER GREEN ROAD

5/379 No 51

II

Cottage. Ornee. Mid C19, some C20 modernisation. Flemish bond red brick
with burnt headers; brick stacks and chimneyshafts; peg-tile roof.

Plan: Basically an L-plan house facing east. One-room block to left (south)
parallel to the street. If this room was heated its chimneyshaft no longer
shows. 2-room crosswing to right projecting forward, both with separate
projecting outer lateral stacks. Probably secondary service extension to rear
of the left room and C20 one-room plan extension on the right end.

2 storeys with single storey extensions.

Exterior: Gothic style. 1:3-window front of C19 casements with timber Y-
tracery. The 3-window section to right is in the end of the crosswing which
has wide canted corners. Here the first floor windows have pointed arch
heads. Verandah on plain posts in front of the left room and doorway from
here into the corsswing; it contains a Gothic style door in a 2-centred arch.
Roof is gable-ended, the canted front of the crosswing with 3 spikey gables
with wavy bargeboards. The rear service block is weatherboarded and the C20
extension to right contains a single front window with a Gothic leaded pattern
echoing the original windows.

Interior: Not inspected.
