Large house, now divided into flats. Early C19, modernised and subdivided
circa 1975. Flemish bond red brick with some burnt headers in less public
walls; brick stacks and chimneyshafts; peg-tile roof.
Plan: Large double depth plan house facing east. The front rooms have rear
stacks, the right one serving the rear room too. Left rear room has a
projecting rear lateral stack. The main stair rises from the central front
entrance hall between the 2 left rooms. Service block projects from left
(south) end of the house but its stack is disused. The basic internal layout
appears to remain intact but was substantially refurbished and adapted when
the place was divided into flats.
2 storeys with single storey C20 extensions to rear.
Exterior: Main house has a symmetrical 3-window front of 16-pane sashes with
low segmental. arches of rubbed brick. Centre bay breaks forward a little.
Central doorway behind flat roofed porch up 2 stone steps. It has panelled
sides, front flat pilasters and moulded entablature. It contains 6-panel door
with panelled reveals and overlight with pattern of curving glazing bars.
Deep plain boarded eaves and low pitch roof is hipped both ends. The other
sides and the service wing continue in the same style if a little less
regular. The right (north) side has a flat roofed curving bay for the front
room; it contains 3 16-pane sash windows and the rear room has a full height
square-cornered bay containing French windows to the ground floor. Verandah
on Tuscan columns across rear of north end and rear has double gable.
Interior: Shows mostly C20 joinery and other detail.
