Gate piers and screen walls at
entrance to Waterloo Promenade (SW)

GV II

Gate piers and screen walls. Mid to late C19. Ashlar and
cast-iron. Pair of square gate piers with chamfered corners
and moulded plinths. Massive square caps with enriched
segmental pediments, topped with remains of cast iron lamps.
On each side, a low ashlar screen wall topped with a cut down
railing. At each end, a square pier with moulded plinth and
concave sided pyramidal cap.
This is one of several gateways and screens erected by
Nottingham Corporation at entrances to the Forest and Waterloo
Promenade.
