GV II

House. Late C18 and early C19, with C20 additions. Stucco and
painted brick with slate roofs. 2 gable and 2 ridge stacks,
rendered.
Plinth, gutter on wooden brackets. 2 storeys; 3 bays. Windows
are glazing bar sashes, mostly original. Central doorcase with
cornice on brackets, fielded 6-panel door and traceried
overlight. Single sash above. To right, a canted bay window, 2
storeys, 3 sashes, then an inserted fire escape door. To left,
a similar bay window, single storey, with a sash above. Left
gable has a canted wooden bay window, 2 storeys, 7 sashes,
flanked to left by a window on each floor. Rear has a mid C20
flat roofed addition and irregular fenestration including a
round arched stair window. Service wing, to left, 2 storeys,
has part of a stone plinth and dentillated eaves. Wooden
porch, 2 storeys, in return angle.
INTERIOR has a stairwell with cornice containing original
dogleg stair with cut string and stick balusters. Elliptical
archway with reeded pilasters, and reeded doorcase with
fanlight. Other ground floor rooms have cornices and mid C19
fireplaces. Garden door, half-glazed, with ogee headed lights.
