Lodge, walls and gate piers to Oxley

Lodge, gate piers and flanking walls, now University of Leeds
premises. 1860-1865. Probably by John Simpson, architect of
the house. For Henry Oxley. Coursed gritstone and ashlar,
ashlar piers, grey slate roof in decorative bands. 2 storeys
with attics, cruciform plan, quoins. Plain surrounds to door
and windows, plate-glass sashes. Tall ornate Dutch-style
gables, central square ridge stack.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Attached curved wall approx 1.5m high to W, inner and outer
pairs of gate piers with banded rustication, cornice, banded
ball finials.
