Coach house, stables and yard wall
at Bardon Grange

GV II

Coach house, stables and walls, now premises of University of
Leeds Gardens Department. 1861. Attributed to Cuthbert
Brodrick. For William Brown. Ashlar, grey slate hipped roof
with red clay ridge tiles. 2 storey L-plan range,
single-storey bay at NE end with attached yard wall and gate
piers linked to rear wing of house. Main range has
segmental-arched openings; double doors to coach house far
right, 4- and 6-pane windows. 2 round 4-pane windows to upper
floor, the deep eaves lifted over them as pediments. Central
ogee-domed ventilator with ornate wind vane to ridge. Yard
wall approx 2m high with taller square gate piers with moulded
cornice and ball finial.
