Shops and offices. Mid C19 with C20 alterations. Brick with
slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. 5 bays facing The Mount, two 3-storey
bays and two 2-storey bays facing The Crescent, with one-bay
splayed angle between the facades. The windows to the upper
storeys are glazing bar sashes with brick arches, except for
the 5th bay on the 2nd floor which has a blind recess, and the
2nd bay facing The Crescent, which has a 1st floor oriel with
a C20 timber casement. On the ground floor this bay has a wide
doorway. The remainder of the ground floor of the 3-storey
part of the building has continuous timber shopfronts partly
renewed in the C20, except at the left of the Mount Street
facade, where there is a carriage entrance with segmental
brick arch.
The two 2-storey bays facing The Crescent are rendered on the
ground floor. On the 1st floor there are glazing bar sashes,
and on the ground floor there are renewed tripartite casement
windows glazed in rectangular panes and with rusticated
lintels. The central doorcase and door are also C20. Timber
gutter brackets support C20 gutters. Ridge chimneys at left of
facade facing The Mount, to right and left of 2nd bay, and
near centre of facade facing The Crescent.
INTERIORS: not inspected.
Nos 54 and 58 are included in the list for the first time.
