House. Early C19 and possibly earlier. Timber-framed and
plastered with rendered brick front; front range has gabled
plain tile roof with large end stacks, and parallel rear range
with hipped plain tile roof, with further hip on ridge to
range at right-angles with white weatherboarded tower beneath
glazed belvedere.
EXTERIOR: front range of 2 storeys with attic and cellar;
3-window range. Large central hipped dormer with 3-light
small-paned casement behind plain parapet. 1st floor has a
16-pane sash window either side of a similar narrower window.
On ground floor a central doorcase with thin Tuscan pilasters
with tall attic panels and segmental, bowed, dentilled and
reeded cornice; semicircular fanlight of radiating bars and
panelled reveals to deeply recessed door with 4
raised-and-fielded panels over 2 flush panels, at the head of
4 steps. Either side are slightly bowed 16-pane windows with
curved glass and dentilled cornice.
C20 flat-roofed car port on north-west flank. The rear range
is of 3 storeys and rendered, with a mixture of windows
including a margin-glazed sash with coloured glass and a
16-pane sash on ground floor. Single-storey rendered brick
extension with lean-to slate roof with reeded surround to door
in flank and C20 small-paned casement. Further C19 extension
beyond has lean-to slate roof and rendered timber-frame.
Belvedere on roof has small-paned windows on all faces and
flat roof.
INTERIOR: central entrance hall with segmental arch on
pilasters; open-well staircase with continuous curved soffit,
stick balusters and column newels. North-west room of front
range has cupboards with raised-and-fielded doors, either side
of rear window. Windows have internal folding shutters in
flanks, and belvedere has fitted bench with shaped end.
