Shop with offices. Early C19. Timber-framed and stuccoed with
hipped slate roof concealed behind parapet.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with cellars (now filled); 2x2-window
range. Timber painted and moulded cornice and recessed curved
corner to south-east. Front to High Street has, on 2nd floor,
2 margin-glazed sash windows with moulded surrounds. The 1st
floor has 2 similar windows but with projecting moulded hoods
on consoles. Jetty-like overhang with curved soffit above
ground floor which has a C20 shop front with tripartite
subdivided glazing, pilasters, consoles, timber stall-riser
and free-standing fascia; also 2 entrance doors with fanlights
framing C20 window of 2 panes.
Frontage to Church of All Saints (qv) has pairs of similar
sash windows, on each floor and C19 shop front with fascia
between large decorative consoles; recessed central entrance
with margin-glazed door with fanlight flanked by
elliptical-headed windows. Bressumer above supported on
cast-iron columns.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORY: this island group represents the site of the former
Moot Hill and the 'jetty' is presumably a reminder, although a
fragment of an arched brace in the cellar appears to be the
only structural remnant surviving.
