Pair of houses, forming part of terraced row; with attached
verandah. c1826-30; altered. Painted roughcast render with
painted rusticated quoining to right and left respectively;
slate roof with panelled pebble-dashed chimneys to right and
left (both coupled with those of the adjoining houses).
Double-depth plan, each house single-fronted, built as a
halls-adjoining pair, with back extensions.
2 storeys, 2+2 windows, formerly symmetrical. Large continuous
verandah of 2+2 unequal bays, with pairs of attractive
cast-iron open-work standards and lead-clad roof hipped to
right and left respectively. At ground floor each has a tall
square-headed doorway (adjoining one another in the centre)
with panelled door and plain overlight, and a large canted bay
window with 4-pane sashed glazing; at 1st floor No.25 has two
4-pane sashes with shouldered architraves, but No.24 now has
one window with altered glazing in a similar architrave and a
C20 canted oriel to the right.
INTERIORS: not inspected.
The pair adjoin Nos 22 and 23 to the right (qv) and Nos 26 and
27 to the left (qv).
All the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, together with
those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine
Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of
Crosby.
