Cottage. Late C17, extended and altered in C20. Rendered stone rubble and cob,
with some rendered brick at left end. Thatch roof, hipped at left end. Stone
rubble stack with tapered cap at right gable end.
Plan. Internal partitions removed in C20 creating single large room, but
originally consisted of 2-room and cross-passage plan, with large heated room to
right and room to left divided axially to create parlour and scullery, with the
staircase formerly running up beside the rear wall and entering the passage at rear
left-hand corner. In C20 the passage and room partitions removed, the cross-passage
doorway blocked and entry made into single storey gabled wing added to front right
end. Continuous outshut added to rear.
2 storeys. 3-window range 2-light casements 6 panes per light, the 2 windows to
right C19, that to left end replaced in C20. Ground floor has 2-light casement to
left of C20 window inserted in blocked cross passage doorway. C20 gabled extension
to front right end.
Interior: Cambered chamfered and scroll-stopped fireplace lintel. Chamfered and
scroll-stopped cross ceiling beam to former right-hand room.
Roof trusses of rough pegged straight principals. No sign of smoke-blackening.
