GV II


Gate piers, gates and railings. Late C19. Brick and Portland ashlar, with cast-iron gates and railings. Main gateway, flanking wickets and quadrant walls forward, has 6 piers of banded brick and stonework, with segmental pedimented capitals, inscribed VR/GIBRALTAR; the central pair of piers has cast-iron lampstands with crown finials. Fleur de lys-headed gates and railings with dog bars. Formed the main entrance to the South Barracks, and a fine example of its type.
