Artisans' cottages. 1909. Designed by George Hubbard and
Arthur Walter Moore for the Improved Industrial Dwellings Company, in consultation with Parker and Unwin. Painted render over brick, with brick plinths and hipped roof of tile, swept and boxed eaves. Two storeys. Six-window range with two-window range outshut to both returns. Vernacular Revival style. Entrances of end units on returns in segmental-arched, recessed porch; round-arched entrance porches to centre pair of units. Brick storey band with weatherings. Elevation bilaterally symmetrical, the range flanking this central axis finishes in facing gables, the heads of which are pierced by loft louvres arranged in a cross pattern; the windows in these ranges are tripartite. windows are doubled in outer ranges, with narrow doubled sashes flanking entrances. Axial ridge stacks to party walls, that in the centre thicker than those flanking. All sashes of an original design. Part of a large group designed by Hubbard and Moore for the
Improved Industrial Dwellings Company and consisting of Nos. 70-124 Willifield Way even (q.v.); the units are roughly symmetrical about a central Green.
