Houses. 1911. Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin. Red brown brick
in Flemish bond with red brick dressings to openings and
corners. Hipped roof of tile with swept and boxed eaves. Two
storeys with one hipped dormer to return of No.6. Ten-window
range to block defining the northwest range of the cul-de-sac;
ranges one and three, to units 18 and 16 respectively, as
projecting bays. Eight-window range to return leading to mouth
of Corringway, that is, Nos. 6 and 8. All entrances flat
arched, that to No.6 on return of one-window range with
outshut to rear. The elevation and features are, otherwise,
identical to those found on Nos. 5-17 across Corringway (odd;
q.v.), of which these are the mirror image. Doors of original
design to Nos. 8-16; No.18 could not be viewed. Ground-floor
windows in ranges 1-3 of block containing Nos. 12-18 are
boarded over; otherwise all windows with sashes of original
design. This group is part of an important design by Parker
and Unwin consisting of Nos. 1 and 3, 2 and 4, and 5-17 (odd;
q.v.) Corringway as well as Nos. 62-76 (even; q.v.) Corringham
Road.
