House, extended and now two. Reported by owner to be C14/15;
extended and altered mid C19. Rendered, brick rear range,
brick ridge stack and lateral stacks to left-hand end and
right-hand side of front wing, and tiled hipped double pile
roof.
PLAN: long single-depth range with right-of-centre front wing
and parallel rear range.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 6-window range. Principal range has small
gablets, and a short wing projecting in front of the ridge
stack. Left-hand 3-light casements, 2 tripartite sashes
separated by a 6/6-pane sash; 1 sash to the wing, and a
casement to the right-hand section. Right-hand end has a
recessed doorway with bracketed canopy to a C20 door; to the
right ground- and first-floor 3-light casements. Left-hand end
has a small 3-light window under the eaves; the unpainted rear
range has a timber doorcase with pilasters and bracketed
canopy to a panelled door, and a 3-light window above.
INTERIOR: not inspected, but reported by owner to contain
elements of timber-frame.
A large and complex house, more detailed investigation of
which might prove it to be of an earlier date.
