Cruck barn. Probably early C17, encased later; C18 additions and later altera-
tions. Cruck frame clad in coursed squared stone; roof partly of stone slates
and partly corrugated asbestos. Part 2-storeyed; 4 internal bays, with later
range at right-angles to rear right, not of special interest. Roadside front:
quoins; blocked quoined cart-entry (now with window); later windows to right;
square and slit vents; roof of stone slates to right, corrugated asbestos to
left. Rear: quoins on right; quoined cart-entry. Right return: blocked
quoined doorway on left; inserted door right; quoined hatchway in gable (to
loft) square vents. Interior: 4 pairs of crucks, the left-hand pair set close
to end wall, the let pair (on left) has crucks truncated, the 2nd a tie-beam and
collar at apex, the 3rd wall-ties and collar at apex the 4th a tie-beam, curved
braces from crucks to the large scantling purlins; square-sectioned ridge-piece,
old rafters; wall plate. Loft to right-hand bays. Window (mullions removed) to
1st floor and similar 1-light attic window. Left return (cross-wing) recessed
chamfered mullion windows, mullions removed, 3 lights to ground floor left and 2
lights to first floor right. Included for Group Value only.
