Bowood estate cottage, early C19, squared ironstone rubble with
thatched half-hipped roof. Ridge stack. One and a half storeys,
picturesque cottage style. Stone mullion windows with small-paned
iron casements. East end has 2-light with hoodmould over 1-3-1-
light canted stone bay. North side has upper 2-light under
eyebrow and lean-to, stone slate verandah on timber posts, gabled
at right in front of door in flush stone surround. C20 casements
to right. C20 west end extension. South side has 2-light under
eyebrow to left, single light at eaves level and leaded timber
casements to ground floor right. The thatched cottages of Sandy
Lane are an outstanding example of an estate village in the
picturesque manner.
