GV II

Bowood estate cottage, c1850, squared rubble stone with stone slate
eaves roof and large rear wall stack with paired octagonal shafts.
Single storey and attic, picturesque Tudor style with finials to
gables and leaded stone mullion windows. Centre shouldered dormer
gable with 2-light window over off-centre projecting gabled porch
with Tudor arched doorway, single light to left, 3-light with
hoodmould to right. South end wall has 2-light over 4-light, both
with hoodmoulds. Possibly designed by Emily, Lady Shelburne, whose
design for Nos 22-3 Old Derry Hill, (q.v.) survives in Bowood
estate plans.
