GV II

Bowood estate cottage, early C19, squared rubble stone with half-
hipped stone slate eaves roof and fretted barge boards. South
side wall stack. Single storey and attic, picturesque cottage
style. West end to road has 1-3-1-light stone mullioned canted
bay and 2-light mullion window with hoodmould above. North side
has similar 2-light each side of central door in flush stone
surround. Hipped lean-to verandah on timber posts across centre
and right.
The thatched cottages of Sandy Lane are an outstanding example of
an estate village in the picturesque manner.
