Farmhouse and attached service/barn range. Probably mid C18, with service/barn
range added early C19; C19 alterations. Coursed squared ironstone with quoins;
Welsh slate roofs; stone and brick stacks. House of 2 storeys with cellar, 3
bays, with central staircase plan. Attached to right is lower 2-storey service/
barn range, having single-unit service section and 3-bay barn. South (yard)
elevation: house: overgrown with ivy; central shallow pointed-arched doorway with
raised keystone, nail-studded board door with cover strips; and iron brackets from
former hood; flanking entrance are 4-light cellar windows, having chamfered stone
mullions and hoodmoulds; other windows wood-framed with metal casements and leaded
lights, of 3 lights apart from 2-light window over door, and having flat arches
with raised keystones; stone coping; end stacks, that to left of stone with paired
shafts and moulded cornices, that to right rebuilt in brick. Service/barn range:
a 3-light lst-floor window to service section; to barn, a central cart-entry with
replacement board doors, and door on right. Rear: house has windows as before, of
4-lights to ground floor, 2 lights above. Service/barn range is set back, and
re-entrant of house has board door. Service section has board door on left; 3-
light window on right; 2-light window with horizontal glazing bars over door;
brick eaves stack. Barn has central cart-entry with replacement board double
door, and loft opening on left. Right return (barn): bird-hole in gable.
Interior of house not inspected; barn has red brick lining, the brick partition
wall with service section in English garden wall bond; lamp recesses flank cart-
entries; bird nesting box to right gable; collared, bolted, queen-post roof
trusses with trenched purlins.

Charles I is reputed to have watched the battle of Cropredy Bridge from under an
oak tree at Wardington Grange.
