3/10013 Ice House about 200 metres
south of Malvern Hall

Ice house. Circa late C18. Brick. Egg-shaped, 15 ft across and 22 ft tall. Short passage, 4 ft
wide, has right angle bend and leads to upper part of the chamber. Sunken underground, the
earth mound over it has eroded exposing the domed top of the ice house. This ice house is
situated in the park of Malvern Hall [qv], which was built in circa 1690 and remodelled and
extended in 1784 by Soane.
