II
House. Circa 1700 with C20 addition. Framed construction, clad in
weatherboarding on the front elevation, the returns underbuilt in brick to
first floor level and weatherboarded (left return) or tile-hung (right return)
above; peg-tile roof; brick stacks.
Plan: The house faces approximately east. It was formerly 2 cottages
(information from owner). 2 rooms wide with a slightly off-centre entrance
(formerly paired front doors in the centre) and front rooms heated from end
stacks. Rear outshut probably integral, rear right outshut raised to a gable-
ended wing at right angles in the C20.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Slightly asymmetrical 2-window front under a mansard
roof, left end stack projects with tile-hung set-offs. Probably C19 plank
stable door to right of centre with a flat porch hood on brackets. 2 first
floor 2-light C18 sliding sashes: 6-pane to the left and 9-pane to the right.
Ground floor window left C19 3-light casement, 4-panes per light, right hand
window 2-light casement, 9-panes per light.
Interior: Partially inspected. Exposed carpentry of slender scantling to
both front rooms, which have open fireplaces with timber lintels. The
partition between the left hand room and the outshut has been removed. Stair
rises from the front left room within the outshut.
Roof: Original timbers said to survive.
