GV II

School, now dwelling. 1864. Squared and coursed local stone, Ham stone dressings, slate roofs, stone stack west gable
end. School room and school-mistresses's dwelling. Single storey block left, 2-storey adjoining to west, 2;2 bays,
first floor right gabled tops to 2-light leaded wooden casements with semi-circular heads, ground floow left gabled
single storey parch approached by flight of 4 steps, Tudor arch head doorway and ribbed door, 3-light Ham stone Tudor
arch head mullioned window with incised spandrels and hoodmould, similar in block to right, 2-light wooden casement
beyond. Left return gable end inserted C20 window. The school was paid for by the Elton family, who were lords of the
manor. Closed in 1966 and became a private dwelling in 1974. (VCH Vol IV, 1978).
