Farmhouse. C16, late C19 refurbishment. Plastered cob and rubble; rubble stacks, 2
topped with C19 brick; slate roof. 3-room-and-through-passage plan house facing
south-east with inner room at left (south-west) end. Projecting end stack to inner
room with C19 oven projection, projecting front lateral stack to hall and rear
lateral stack to service end room. Newel stair turret to rear of hall. Rear of
passage now blocked. 2 storeys. 4-window front, all late C19 horned large-pane
sashes with margin panes, and including tripartite sashes to hall and service room.
Hall window bay has been brought forward flush with the front of the stack. Late
C19 partly glazed front door is set inside the passage on the right of hall stack.
Roof is gable-ended and carried forward to front. Hall stack has apparently
original stone chimney shaft.
Interior is largely result of C19 modernisation but most is probably superficial as
C16 plan is intact. Hall has C16 chamfered and step stopped crossbeams and cob wall
at upper end includes a late C17-early C18 cupboard with fielded panel door on H
hinges. Roof inaccessible.
