Description

TQ 67 41 BRENCHLEY HIGH STREET, BRENCHLEY
(south side)
15/101 2 Chest tombs about 9m south
east of the porch of the Church
of All Saints
GV II

Pair of chest tombs. Circa mid C18. Freestone. Pair of low chests, adjacent
to the churchyard path, both with chamfered lids. The northern chest
commemorates Isaac Lewis, dated 1745. The inscription on the southern chest
is illegible.

This pair of chest tombs forms a good group with the Wimshurst headstones and
bodystones (q.v.) in the north east corner of an outstanding churchyard.
