Originally a C17 timber-framed house but largely rebuilt in the C18-C19, The C17 cruciform central chimney stack remains. There are cross wings at the east and west ends, with jettied upper storeys, The building is now faced in weather boarding. 1 storey and attics. The windows are double-hung sashes with vertical glazing bars. The ground storey windows in the cross wings are early C19 bays with glazing bars, supported on cast iron pillars. C20 doors. Roof tiled, with 3 gabled dormer windows, and a central C17 cruciform chimney stack. 3 gabled wings extend at the rear. (RCHM 19).

Cherry Tree Cottages, The Ferns, The Chequers Inn, Broadgates, The Church of St Michael and All Angels, Nos 1 and 2 The Bishops, Cottage End, Burrells Cottage and Rose Cottage, Tighshee and Willow Cottage form a group.
