It comprises the gabled wing of a C16 timber-framed and plastered house, with a jettied upper storey at the north end and a range of C18-C19 timber-framed and plastered cottages on the south. The front is now faced with modern ornamental plaster work. The gabled north wing is 2 storeys and the south range is 1 storey and attics. 4 window range, C20 casements with glazing bars. There are 3 C20 doors with fillets in doorcases with moulded architraves and cornices on shaped brackets. A large C19 yellow brick block is added at the rear. Roofs tiled, mansard on the C18-C19 range, with 3 gabled dormer windows. (RCHM 22).

Cherry Tree Cottages, The Ferns,The Chequers Inn, Broadgates, The Church of St Michael and All Angels, Nos 1 and 2 The Bishops, Cottage End, Burrells Cottage and Rose Cottage, Tighshee and Willow Cottage form a group.
