HAVERTHWAITE SD 38 SE 10/74 Hard Crag and adjoining barn and outbuilding

House, barn and outbuilding. C17. Stone rubble, house roughcast, slate roof. House of 2 storeys, and 2 bays, 3-bay bank barn breaks forward to left, 2-bay outbuilding recessed to right. Windows have remains of small-paned glazing, those to ground floor with dripstones; 1st bay has fire window with flat arch. Entrance to 2nd bay, gable-end stacks, that to left projects. Barn has large entrance. Outbuilding has entrance to 1st bay and large opening, with some collapse to right, to 2nd bay. Rear has stair wing under catslide roof; entrance with flat arch to right. Outbuilding has large blocked entrance; barn has 2 cow house entrances and windows, and winnowing door under flat arches. Interior has upper cruck truss. Stop chamfered beams and joists, one beam ovolo moulded, another ovolo moulded to one side, with signs to soffit of partition. Stud and plaster partition has moulded edges to studs. Fireplace with corbelled bressummer, spice cupboard with door frame to left and part of plank and muntin heck partition to right. Barn has bulge to inside wall to back of fireplace, probably oven.
