Block of flats. 1907. Gordon and Gunton. Ashlar-faced front and side, brick
back. Slate/tile roofs. Eclectic Arts and Crafts style. 6 storeys and
basement. Balanced composition of slightly projecting central range of 2
full-height canted bays, 4-bay wings, full-height slightly projecting canted bay
to west and polygonal angle turret to east. Porches to centre of wings have
Ionic pilasters and keyed round arches. 1st floor balcony, partly balustraded.
Mullion and transom windows, the mullions flush with the wall. Very shallow bows
to 1st and 2nd floor of wings. To 5th floor of wings a round-arched loggia with
rusticated archivolts. Modillion cornice. Dormers to roof. Outer bay to left
has pyramidal roof flanked by turrets. Open-pedimented composition to central
range with round-arched recess containing oculus. Angle turret to right
surmounted by attic with scalloped parapet. Original area railings.
