GV II

Part of an inn, now a house. Mid/late C17. Rendered limestone
rubble, freestone rusticated quoins and architraves,
double-Roman tile gambrel roof with a brick stack to the left
gable end. 2-unit plan (probably with hall/kitchen to left of
passage) with rear wing now No.70 (qv).
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic; 2-window range. A 3/3-pane
sash window to a small central raking dormer. Cyma-moulded
mullions and surrounds stopped at the corners to 2-light
windows with C19 plate-glass sashes to the 1st floor. The
ground floor has a C20 door with a C19 4-pane overlight to the
right and 2 C20 windows to left. The left return has a blocked
stone architrave high in the gable end.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORY: this is recorded on a map of 1784 as part of the
Horse and Jockey Inn.
