The Cottage

Cottage attached to the rear of No.68 (qv) with entrance in
Audley Road. Early C18. Painted limestone rubble with
freestone quoins and dressings, double-Roman tile roof with a
central brick ridge stack. 2-unit plan with C20 rear
extension.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; one-window range. Cyma-moulded stone
mullions to 2-light windows with C20 leaded glazing, 3-light
to the ground floor of the gabled left return. To the left is
a C20 planked door in a cyma-moulded architrave with a moulded
hood on brackets.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORY: before 1784 this was part of the Horse and Jockey Inn
(Chamberlain, Joseph A: Chippenham: Chippenham: 1976-: 130).
