Milestone. Early C19, removed from its original site and re-instated near to that location in August 2000. Rectangular sandstone pillar approx. 1.5 metres high, with 2 inscribed faces. One face reads '5 miles to Manchester' , the other ' 1 mile to Ashton'. The road which it serves is now the A 635, a routeway believed to have been turnpiked in 1824.
