Emporium, now shops with offices above. c1870. Yellow brick
front, now colourwashed, Welsh slated roof above brick dentil
cornice with moulded band; square blocking pieces (above
pilasters on facade) with terracotta urn finials.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 4-bay facade, with additional bay at left
above carriageway. Second floor with 4 tall 8-pane sash
windows, set on stuccoed sills,and recessed under rubbed brick
flat arches. Pilaster at left and right, similar window in bay
at left. First floor has full width showroom window, 6 bays,
subdivided into 2 and 3 lights by moulded glazing bars, with
flat bell caps, and by intermediate mullions and transoms.
Pilasters with Corinthian caps and foliated reeded consoles,
with fascia with moulded band and bold moulded cornice above.
At second-floor level, left-hand bay has single recessed
8-pane sash window. Ground floor has plain pilasters with
stucco blocks at first-floor level, roll and projecting plinth
bases, with 2 full width C20 timber shopfronts with plate
glass windows; carriageway to rear at far left.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms a significant street frontage group with Nos 5 & 7 (qv).
