GV II

House, now public house. C17, altered mid C19, with further
C20 alterations. Timber-framed structure cased in brick and
stuccoed, with brown stock brick, laid to Flemish Bond, to
rear and left-hand wing (No.15). Welsh slated roofs.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attics, 5 bay structure (No.17). First
floor (No.15) has 3 recessed C19 sash windows with divided
glazing, under rubbed brick flat arches, and with stucco band
at first-floor level. First floor (No.17) has 3 triple light
sash windows with plain glazing in projecting stucco surrounds
with moulded consoles below eaves. Stucco quoins at left and
right plat band at first-floor level with deep fascia below
carrying wide painted nameboard. Ground floor (No.15) has
rebuilt carriageway at left, with twin leaf boarded gates, and
reset sash window at right in former carriageway. Ground floor
(No.17) has 2 wide recessed closed 3-light windows with
arcaded heads in projecting stucco surrounds, with consoles
below sills left and right. Central doorway, with half glazed
door recessed between stucco pilasters, above 2 stone steps.
Roof steeply pitched over No.17 with 3 sash box dormers, and
yellow brick stacks with bands and oversailing courses.
INTERIOR: single bar space, now including part ground floor of
No.15. Central dispense with C19 bar counter having recessed
panelling with scotia mouldings, and bar top carried on
Acanthus scrolls. Boarded dado. Upper floors not inspected.
