Semi-detached houses. c1825. Stucco front, brown stock brick
laid to Flemish bond at rear and to outshoots. Hipped Welsh
slate roofs above moulded cornice, with widely spaced
modillions, and central stuccoed multi-flue chimneystack.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 4-bay front, with recessed 2-storey,
3-bay wings, stuccoed with hipped Welsh slated roofs, both
wings extended to full frontage of sites. Second floor with 4
recessed 9-pane sash windows; first floor with 4 recessed
12-pane sash windows above band. Ground floor has 4 recessed
15-pane sash windows, with semicircular heads set within outer
arched recess with projecting impost band, stucco plinth.
Wings subdivided by pilaster strips and bands, with arched
entrances with 6-panel doors and semicircular fanlights.
Rear elevations have 2 sash windows first and second floors,
20-pane and 15-pane, including narrow margin panes, under
rubbed brick arches; ground floor has 2 x 20-pane sashes
recessed within elliptical arches.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
This development was part of the growth of Hertford along
North Road towards the County Hospital during the late 1820s.
It was shown as 'North Crescent' on an 1830 map.
