Coachouse and stables to No.23

GV II

Barn, subsequently coach-house and stables. Early C18, with
C19 alteration. Red brick, laid to Flemish bond, colourwashed
on east and north, old tiled roof, parapeted on north, gabled
on south, with pantiled lean-to. Rear (west) slope raised and
slated as part of rebuilding of rear outshut of No.25 (qv).
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; first floor has 2 loft openings, and 2 in
north flank; ground floor with twin battened doors at left,
central 6-panel door at right.
INTERIOR: has 2 stalls, with C19 ramped division, in
right-hand (north) ground floor room. 3-bay queen strut roof,
with riven rafters, and sawn rafters to C19 raised rear slope.
Forms an important component of the setting of Nos 21 and 23
(qv).
