GV II

Manufactory and warehouse with cottage in rear yard, now
offices. c1827 (initialled bricks 'GN', 'WN' 1827 on cottage,
and 'RN' 1827 on main building), converted to offices and
extended at rear 1970s. Yellow stock bricks, Flemish bond,
Welsh slated roof with lead roll hips, cast-iron structure.
Open-plan floors, 4-bay facade.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. First floor has 4 multi-light small paned
cast-iron windows beneath segmental arches, half-length
similar windows on second floor, plat band at first-floor
level with raised lettering 'MANUFACTORY HOUSE', ground floor
with 3 windows and modern 3-panel door second bay from left.
Right-hand bay originally had a loading door at first floor
and iron bracket for hoist is still in position. Access to
rear yard through tunnel beneath end of the Bell Lane frontage
of No.18 Fore Street (qv). C20 link to former cottage at rear,
2-storey, all included in listing.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
