DIDDLEBURY

House. Late C18 or early C19, to C17 core. Sandstone rubble;
plain tile roof; stepped rubble external stack with brick
chimney to right returned side; rubble buttress stack with
brick chimney to rear; brick end stack to kitchen range.
H-shaped on plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, with attic to right cross-wing. Central
range has 2 half-dormers with 3-light casements, over central
battened plank door, flanked by 3-light casement and, to left,
single light casement. Advanced gable to left has 2-light
casement over 3-light casement, under brick segmental arches;
advanced gable to right has C20 light in C20 timber-framed
gable-head, over 2-light casement, with 2 and 3-light
casements to ground floor. Rear: timber-framing with brick and
plaster infill to rear gables; late C19 connecting range to
C17 outbuilding, now kitchen.
INTERIOR: stop-chamfered ceiling beams; exposed
timber-framing; 2 stone fireplaces with chamfered beams.
