GV II

Lace warehouses, now studio and offices. Late C19, additions
1910, by WD Pratt of Nottingham for A Schmidt. Red brick with
ashlar ground floor, and ashlar dressings. Roof not visible.
Plinth, ground floor sill band and cornice, main and eaves
cornices, coped parapet. Windows are mainly original plain
sashes with brick flat arches. Ground floor openings have
round arches with voussoirs. 4 storeys plus basement and
attics; 6:3:6 windows.
Symmetrical front with projecting centre. Ground floor has an
elliptical arched coved entrance with voussoirs and
segment-arched panelled double doors, flanked by single
windows. Beyond, reglazed windows, and in the first and 12th
bays, panelled doors, all with fanlights.
Above, in the centre, a large glazing bar double sash, with
column, pilasters and entablature, flanked by plain sashes.
Above again, a glazing bar double sash, with cornice and
elongated keystone, flanked by similar single sashes. Above
again, similar fenestration without ornament. All these
windows have projecting architraves. Attics have 4 plain
windows. Side ranges have regular fenestration, with 6 windows
on each floor.
INTERIOR has a stone cantilever open well staircase, 4
flights, with wrought-iron balustrade and glazed tile dado in
Art Nouveau style. 2 Classical wooden doorcases.
