Cloth mill, now flats. Late C18. Coursed limestone rubble with
limestone dressings, ashlar gable stacks and stone slate roof.
Single-depth plan. 4 storeys and attic; 5-window range. Coped
gables, windows of 3 lights with raised surrounds to
flat-faced stone mullions and casements with horizontal
glazing bars, in groups of 2:1:2. Central and left-hand doors
in raised stone surrounds. Attic visible at rear. INTERIOR not
inspected. Formerly with railed front garden and wide gate,
and a full-width canopy.
An important example of pre-industrial cloth production in
Wiltshire: 'Nowhere has the environment of the trade in
pre-factory days survived better (than in the E side of the
Green)' (Edington).
