SIBSON-CUM-STIBBINGTON WANSFORD TL 0699 LONDON ROAD (West Road) 9/144 No. 16 (The Old House) and rear 13.12.57 boundary wall GV II House and rear boundary wall. 1848 for the Duke of Bedford's steward. Dressed limestone rubble with freestone and ashlar dressings. Welsh slated roofs. Ashlar gable end stacks. Two storeys with attic and cellars, rear addition c.1850 completing double pile plan. Symmetrical facade of three bays; entrance with pilastered stone architrave and three-block rustication to round-headed arch; four-panelled door with patterned round headed fanlight. Ashlar plinth continuous around two, two storey bay windows with chamfered reveals and nine-paned hung sash windows. Central blind window above entrance with moulded cornice. Two C20 casement dormer windows. Cast iron boot scraper beside entrance. Interior details C19, original plan slightly altered to rear. Unattributed plans, similar in detail,in Bedford Estate records, Bedford R.O.
