Late C18. Formerly called Meal Hill Gate Farm. Two cottages and barn in one
range. Thinly coursed rubble. Quoins. Pitched stone slate roof. Moulded foot-
stones to barn and back of house. Coped gables with chamfered underside.
2 storeys. South East elevation has: Ground floor; Central doorway with large
lintel, stone surrounds and tie-stones. Later entrance. One 3-light stone mul-
lioned window (recessed) (mullions removed). One 2-light stone mullioned window
(recessed) (mullions removed). One 3-light stone mullioned window (later enlarge-
ment). First floor; Two 2-light stone mullioned windows (recessed). Two 3-light
stone mullioned windows (recessed). North West elevation has: Ground floor; Later
window. One 2-light stone mullioned window (recessed) (part blocked). First
floor; Entrance blocked. Two 2-light stone mullioned window (recessed) (1 mullion
removed). Early lean-to extension with catslide roof and quoins (with 2-light
recessed window). North East gable has: Later lean-to extension. Barn: breaks
forward on SE side and is earlier than houses. 3 later windows to SE. South
West gable has: Large doorway with deep lintel and large quoins, recently altered
with new lintel. Former openings to first floor blocked. North East gable: (part
obscured by house) has: Former small doorway with deep lintel and large quoins.
