Primary School.

School: 1854 by J S Crowther. Header bond purple-red brick with
ashlar buff sandstone dressings. Welsh slate roof and a brick
chimney. Decorated style. Rectangular plan. East front of original
portion is of 1 storey and 3 bays. Left end bay under stone-coped
gable has a 4-light window with reticulated tracery and a label mould
on carved head stops. Small bellcote on apex of gable. Central lower
porch with a chamfered triangular headed entrance and a board door
with ornate strap hinges behind. To right is a broad 4-centred arched
window containing trefoil headed lights.
Interior: Main rooms are open to the roof and have trusses of jointed
crucks with a collar and king post.
Compares closely with Redclyffe Grange, Alderley Edge (q.v.) a house
by J S Crowther. There are extensive C20 additions to the original
and these are not included in the item.
