Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17, extended probably late C17/early C18. Timber
framing with some brick infill and some tile hanging; old plain-tile roof with
brick stacks. 2-unit lobby-entry plan with rear wing, extended at front. 2
storeys plus attic. Front is partly obscured by the single-storey brick kitchen
extension but has some exposed framing, to right, with a 4-panel door and a
leaded 2-light casement; other walls are tile hung with, in the left gable wall,
a 4-pane sash and a 2-light casement, plus, in the right gable wall, leaded
casements of 3 and 4 lights. Roof has a large central 4-shaft stack. Rear wing,
of one storey plus attic, is also tile hung over framing. Front wing has narrow
bricks at lower level, a rounded bread-oven projection, and has a gable parapet
with projecting kneelers of moulded brick. Interior: exposed framing with heavy
curved braces; massive central stack; old winder stairs to both floors with
wood-latched doors; curved windbrace in roof.
