School along the Penshurst
Road and Marlpit Corner

Boundary wall. Circa 1880s. Roughly-dressed sandstone brought to course
flanking the entrance, the other walls brick with a dentil moulding below the
coping.

Plan: The walls extend along the Penshurst Road and round Marlpit corner to
the east, curving inwards at the entrance to the drive to Swaylands School and
the entrance to the stable yard.

Exterior: At the main entrance the sandstone walls are low with stone coping,
crowned with iron railings with a barleysugar top rail on standards with
wrought iron scrolls. Squat octagonal gate piers with 2-tier pyramidal
coping. The entrance walls ramp up to taller brick walls which curve inward
at the stable yard entrance to the west where there is a pair of C19 timber
gates.
