- II
Lodge, circa. 1830, of tooled squared rubble sandstone. 2 storeys,
symmetrical. Accommodation is in crenellated, octagonal turret with
small leanto outer wing to each side of a Tudor archway. Gates
removed. Inner canted face of each turret has boarded door in moulded
opening under label, surmounted by a cross-shaped arrow-loop. Front
face of each turret has a 2-light double-bevelled mullioned and
transomed window to each storey. Top-hamper above archway contains a
glazed cross-loop. Each wing has a round-headed blank arch to lower
storey and a slightly curved parapet.
At rear the turrets have mullioned and transomed windows as at front;
each wing has an inserted round-arched window to lower storey and a
small inserted casement to upper storey.
The castellated lodge is little altered externally except for the rear
windows and the pyramidal roof above the archway which is replaced in
fibreglass (but not prominent). Interior not inspected.
