Hotel. 1792-4. For CH Hunt. Brick with ashlar dressings; slate
roof with coped gables and brick end stacks. Central staircase
plan. Georgian style. 3 storeys; 3-window range. Platt band
over ground floor and top modillioned brick cornice.
Round-headed entrance has doorcase with architrave and
consoled open pediment, fanlight with decorative glazing bars
over 4-panel door. Window to ground floor right has rubbed
brick flat arch with key over 4:12:4-pane tripartite sash,
similar window above has 12-pane sash; central 1st-floor
window has sash with intersecting glazing bars; late C19
two-storey bay window to left has top ashlar and brick
cornice, ashlar sills and lintels, 4:12:4-pane tripartite
sashes and sashed side lights; 2nd floor has windows with
6-pane sashes. Single-storeyed early C20 wing; large bay
windows each with three 18-pane horned sashes with return
sashes flanking round-headed entrance with fanlight with
radial glazing bars and small-paned half-glazed door; all
under hipped pentice. Right return has varied C19 and C20
additions.
