Row of 3 cottages. Probably mid or late C18 remodelling and
extension of an earlier probably C17 structure. Painted render
over cob or rubblestone; the rear outhouse of No.1 is partly
cob. Continuous hipped thatched roof with brick stacks to
party walls and right end, rubblestone stacks to the rear.
No.1 is 2-unit central-entry plan with cob rear wing, No.3 is
2-unit central-entry plan; No.5 is 3-unit plan and includes
probably C19 one-bay extension to right.
Each cottage is 2 storeys; 2-window range. Nos 1 and 3 have
C19 two-light casement windows and virtually central doors.
The centre of No.5, to the right, steps slightly forward, with
one C19 three-light window to the first floor, 2 to the ground
floor and a window to both floors of the right-hand range. The
upper windows have C17 painted mullioned frames. The lean-to
has a planked door and a 2-light window; a C18 door to the
left, of 6 raised and fielded panels, is set back below a
flying freehold of No.3 and is to the right of a C19 planked
door to No.3. No.1 has a C20 door. INTERIORS not inspected.
